Dear Editor,
Politics has never been civil. Much as we might like it to be, it will never happen. The agendas - platforms of the national parties are too far apart. The last time I recall any collective reasoning was when Ronald Reagan was President and Tip O'Neal was Speaker of the House. They would fight and argue like crazy, but in the end, they could share a drink together and compromise. The era will never return.
We now have a Democrat Party that is dominated by Leftist/Marxist/Islamists: Totally incompatible with our Historic National Values, meaning that our government was the people being able to govern themselves. Nowhere in the World, then and now, has there been a government with the people in charge. This was a great experiment in governance that we are a representative Republic. Meaning, we elect people to represent us in Washington D.C, and that they answer to us -the people. Benjamin Franklin made note of this when asked, "What have you given us?" He answered, "A Republic if you can keep it". Well, we are about to celebrate our 250th birthday. How many more? It has been a bumpy ride we have not always been right, nor always wrong, but as U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill said, “Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted”.
We do have an opportunity to do the right thing. Past Administrations have shown mistakes, as well as victories. There are at least a few things that need attention.
1. Close our border to illegal immigrants – and deport those who break our laws!
2. Stop the violence against law enforcement. Especially ICE and Border Patrol.
3. Recognize Anti-Semitism is an evil and stop it. Israel is a democratic country and should survive.
4. Recognize the First Amendment gives all the right to speak freely. Opinions are valuable and may lead to good things. The stop must be put on rhetoric leading to violence.
5. Do what is possible to bring good jobs back to our people, including manufacturing.
6. Make sure our military veterans get the care and assistance they need.
7. Congress must pass a balanced budget amendment or law that allows debit spending only under the most extreme of circumstances.
8. If another unwise government shutdown occurs, no pay for Congress until over!
9. Islamist terrorists wherever found are an evil and must be stopped.
10. No one judge should by decree stop a legitimate Presidential action. Impeach activist judges who do not follow the law.
These are only a good start. Democrats would do well to return to the politics stated by John F. Kennedy. Unfortunately, that party has been taken over by Islamists, Socialists, Marxists, and Communists. Americanism is now a rarity in their politics.
Regards and blessings
John Stiegelmeyer

You are so wrong.
Explain away why all the prosecutors and judges were all democrats. They did everything possible to bankrupt him and family, and get him jail time, it didn't work.
No one was harmed, loans paid off in full and early. This was/is no more than dirty politics.
Blessings.
Do you think Ice should be running around with masks and no identification? Should they be pulling people out of their homes because of how they look? She they be smashing car windows and destroying property? You mentioned Ronald Reagan in your letter. He is probably rolling over in his grave seeing Donald Trump leading this country. Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan.
Also, does being civil start now? How about the abuse Obama and Biden took during their time as president? Just admit it, John, you voted for and support a convicted felon, sexual abuser, a likely pedophile, a fraud, tax cheat, serial liar, and a hundred other things. It's amazing the right wing nazis can't find a better candidate! lol
I also agree with John. This president could decree that we should breathe and a judge somewhere would decide it was "unconstitutional." I think Trump has won every one or at least the majority of these "pushbacks" by the rabid Judges with severe cases of TDS. More of our wasted tax dollars in legal battles that are ridiculous.
Maybe elect a president that doesn't break the law, see if that helps.
