To The Editor,
As someone who occasionally submits comments to the opinion page, I would like to ask the editor to abide by their own rules that are placed on the "Leave a Comment" page which a person has to click to agree before submitting the comment. These rules are:
- Your name is required
- Be polite
- Will you wish that you wouldn't have said this tomorrow? If so, edit your comment
- Disagree politely with ideas shared, don't make it personal
- Vinton Today has the right to refuse any comments that are deemed inappropriate
Unfortunately, these standards are being ignored by the editor allowing personal attacks between writers. These attacks do not further any relevant conversation about the topic, they only provide people an opportunity to malign others. Freedom of speech does not mean that it is ok to make personal attacks on a public site. Please return to the standards that you have already have in place. I also encourage those writing letters to stop the personal attacks and only respond to the subject that is being discussed.

I think Val does a super job considering ALL we throw at her.
Speaking of STANDARDS...What's wrong with wanting an America who treats their senior citizens, poor families, and vets as well as we do Biden's millions and millions and millions of illegal immigrants???
