Letter to the Editor: Get Your COVID booster

Dear EditorAll signs are pointing to a winter surge of COVID infections this winter, yet less than 4% of the population - far less in Iowa - are up to date with their booster shots. This will potentially lead to thousands of needless deaths across the country in the next few months. In Iowa, this highly preventable illness has killed more people in 2022 than it did by this time in 2021, thanks to COVID-Kim Reynolds and her policy of doing nothing through denial.
It's clear that there is no longer any reason to die from COVID other than people just choosing to not protect themselves and their loved ones.
See your doctor. Science really is real. Get your booster. And for those who might be inclined to advise me of being political about it, let me just say that there is no place hot enough in hell for Joe Biden when he says the pandemic is over. It is not, and certainly not in Iowa.Anthony Bopp

RB October 10, 2022, 2:03 pm Covid as a pandemic and a serious threat to life is pretty much over. Covid, unfortunately, will be with us likely forever. However, we have vaccination and antivirals for prevention and treatment. My interpretation of what Biden said was along those lines. Got my flu and Covid booster this fall as most Americans should do if we want to help with the spread.

NG October 11, 2022, 5:01 pm I got my booster and flu shot and never had any doubt about getting them. The article you posted was from the Florida AG. All the experts have come out against what he said. Everyone with half a brain knows that DeSantis appointed him because of politics. He believes as DeSantis wants him too and then says just what is expected.

So now the young men are not supposed to get vaccinated so they can spread the virus around to the rest of the people in Florida. Florida, a state that ranks 2nd among the states for the number of elderly. That will be good now won't it, NOT.

Besides the fact that the death rate is higher among republicans than Democrats just like the link Barry posted tells us.

I will always trust the experts rather than a DeSantis yes man. Everything DeSantis does is related to politics, not to the welfare of Floridians.

Ladapo has been called an anti-science quack by Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried. She said "But now that he’s been confirmed, it’s my sincere hope that he and Governor DeSantis choose to focus on saving lives and preventing unnecessary illness instead of continuing their absurd promotion of conspiracy theories and opposition to proven public health measures — but I’m not going to hold my breath.” Looks like she is right.

Funny, I could have sworn that Fauci himself said multiple times that if a person got the vaccine you couldn't give it to anyone. We were supposed to get if for our grandparents, our parents...yadda, yadda, yadda.

Just think about that when you contemplate getting your booster or the "new vaccine" for the next pandemic.

They simply lied...and made billions off the lie while demanding we all take a shot that would do nothing to stop the transmission.

DC October 13, 2022, 11:42 am Trump fast tracked the vaccine. Several prominent democrats went on record that they would not take Trump's vaccine, but when Joe went into office the vaccine was all good. The mistake Trump made was letting that liar fauchi go on TV and lie to the public every week.
