Peggy Lou Parke, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday, 5/27/2026, at her home in Shellsburg.

Services for her will be at a later date. Interment will be at the Athens Cemetery in Athens, Missouri at a later time, where she will be buried with her husband of 71 years, Richard.

Peggy was born 8/24/1932 in Elmira, Missouri, to John and Goldie (Smith) McDaniel. She graduated from Elmira High School in 1950. Peggy married Richard E. Parke on 12/22/1951. She worked for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and retired from there in 1987.

Peggy like to knit, crochet and was an avid reader. She enjoyed watching all sports, especially baseball and golf. Her favorite teams were the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs. Peggy was an active member of The Church of Grace in Shellsburg, also The Share Food Pantry. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her 4 grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her 2 sons, Stephen (Julia) Parke of Shellsburg, Harold (Becky Walter) Parke of Croton, Iowa; her grandchildren Jodi Parke of Cedar Rapids, Levi (Brittany) Parke of Des Moines, Adam Parke of Cedar Rapids, and Megan (Trevor) Walt of Toddville; her sister Alice Mummey of Albuquerque, NM; her fur baby Fefe, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; 1 sister; 2 brothers; 5 sister in-laws and 6 brother in-laws.
