Judith Ann Kenner, 87, of Chelsea, IA passed away peacefully at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids.
Judy was born on August 26, 1938, the daughter of Joseph and Beatrice (Kracek) Kriva. She grew up in rural Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School. Following high school, Judy worked as a switchboard operator in Chelsea, later at Citizens Bank in Belle Plaine, and eventually at Frontier Herbs in Norway.
On August 5, 1961, Judy was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Kenner at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they made their home in Belle Plaine before moving to the Kriva family farm just outside of town. There, Judy embraced farm life, taking great pride in working alongside her husband.
Judy was known for her strong work ethic, kind heart, and love of simple country living. She found joy in gardening, raising chickens, and sharing fresh eggs with friends, neighbors, and loyal customers as she made her delivery rounds. Life on the farm brought her happiness and companionship through the many dogs and cats she cared for over the years.
Judy is survived by her siblings, Beatrice Gordon of California, Jo Ann Van Weelden of Fairfax, Merrie Hanzelka of Utah, Ann Johnson of Fairfax; sister-in-law Sandra Cronbaugh of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Kenner (2017); brother Joseph Kriva; sister, Patricia Boyd; brother-in-law’s, Edward Gordon, James Van Weelden, and Harlan Cronbaugh; infant children, Joanatte Ann and Christine Marie Kenner.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mike Kolars for the care and compassion he showed Judy, always being there to lend a helping hand.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, IA. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
