Marsha Lynn Birch, 77, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away May 11, 2026 at Sunny Hill Care Center, Toledo; following a short battle with cancer.

Marsha was born on March 4, 1949 to Nelson and Almira (Taylor) Anderson, in Belle Plaine. She attended Belle Plaine High School. Marsha married in 1967 and was blessed with a son, Christopher, before their divorce. She spent most of her career in food service, most recently at the Meskwaki Casino, before leaving to care for her mother.

Marsha loved her grandsons, but cats were her life. She was active in her faith at Grace Community Church, Belle Plaine with her sister, Nelsene.  

Marsha is survived by her son, Christopher (Charlene) Birch of Toledo; sisters, Nelsene (Richard) Beck of Belle Plaine, Delores (Rick) Paton of Camdenton, MO; sister-in-law, Mary Waters; grandsons, Cayden and Cameron Birch; special friend, Ed Arens.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Larry Waters.

Per Marsha’s wishes a graveside service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, IA. Memorials may be made to the family.
