Connie Lee Wardenburg, 82, raised in Norway, and later of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at MeadowView Memory Care. Friends of Connie and the family may visit with the family on Thursday, May 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home for a celebration of life.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
Connie is survived by her son, Mike (Susan) Wardenburg of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Dee (John) Rich of Palo; four grandchildren: Grant (Shelby) Wardenburg, Eric (Alisha) Wardenburg, Mason (fianc ©e Bailee) Rich, and Zoey Rich; three great-grandchildren: Felicity, Liam, and baby on the way; her two sisters, Coleen Ockenfels and Shirley Becker; and her brother-in-law, David Eckhart.
Connie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Harold Wardenburg, and her parents.
Connie was born on February 17, 1944, daughter of Chris and Marian “Peggyâ€� (Cole) Hoyt. She graduated from Norway High School in 1962. Connie married the love of her life, Harold G. Wardenburg on September 19, 1964 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Connie worked as a secretary for Norway Elementary School and as a teller at Benton County State Bank and Watkins Bank. Connie and Harold owned and operated their own business, Harold’s Amoco in Blairstown, for 26 years. In December of 1995, she and Harold moved to Tempe, AZ. In Arizona, she worked for East Valley Primary Care Physicians and Tempe School District. Connie returned to Cedar Rapids in April of 2025.
Her greatest joy came from caring for her family. She especially took pride in making beautiful meals for her family and making their favorite foods. Connie enjoyed warm sunshine, sitting on the patio, and sweet treats.
Memorial donations will be directed to the family for a charitable contribution to be established at a later date.
