Surrounded by his loving family, Edward “Ed” Felts, 79, of Vinton, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at Dysart United Methodist Church, Dysart, with Rev. Mechille Boldt officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the church, on Friday. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Ed and his family.
Ed was born on February 25, 1946, in Waterloo, the son of Otis and Laudine (Dillinger) Felts. He grew up in the Dysart area and graduated from Dysart High School in 1965.
Ed was united in marriage to Jane Lake. Three children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. On July 7, 2006, Ed was married to Linda Foster in Tama County. Together they shared many years filled with love, laughter, travel, and cherished time with family.
Ed spent his working life at Elk Creek Stables, where he worked for 22 years, he was self-employed at Traer Body Shop for eight years, and worked for John Deere for 11 years. A hard worker all his life, Ed took pride in everything he did.
Ed had a deep love for horses, from breaking them to enjoying trail rides to providing horse therapy. He also enjoyed working on vehicles, boating, karaoke, dancing, and traveling with Linda. Above all, Ed treasured time spent with his family, creating memories that will be held close by those who loved him.
Ed is survived by his wife, Linda Felts of Vinton; his children: Michele (Mark) Claude of Webster City, Stephanie (Mike) Nokes of Webster City, Jeff (Cami) Felts of Webster City, and Justin (Megan Saylor) Tharp of Vinton; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Cassie Klein of Dysart; and several other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; son, Ronnie Tharp; brother, Otis Felts Jr.; and brothers-in-law: Mike Klein, Randy Foster, and Don Foster.
