Billie Jo Coady of Vinton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025. A Celebration of life visitation & service will be held Sunday, December 21st, 2025. The visitation will be from 1-3:00 p.m., with a service at 3:00 p.m. This will be held at The Well, 417 1st Ave. in Vinton.
Billie Jo Rebecca Coady was born May 23, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Glenn and Viola Seltrecht. Billie Jo attended Vinton Elementary and Junior High, and Benton Community High School.
Billie Jo was the favorite to all who knew her. She was an inspiring person who loved everyone and shared her joy with all. Billie Jo adored her grandchildren and spent lots of time with them. There was never a dull moment at Granny's house. Doing activities of all kinds, crafts, games, baking and outside play. They were the center of her world and they loved their granny. She enjoyed her job at Creative Kids. She loved all the kids in her classroom and was always creating new activities and crafts for them. Billie Jo loved the outdoors. Working in her flower gardens or sitting around a fire. She was very creative and had a talent for crafting and writing poems. She also had a love for the Minnesota Vikings. Her rivalry with her nieces and nephews made for a lot of laughs and memories.
Billie Jo is survived by her two sons, Dustin Cheek, Marion, Iowa, and John (Alex) Coady, of Marion, Iowa. Her 5 grandchildren, Aydenn, Amirah, Alijah, Aires and Amari Cheek. Her brother Marshall (Thanya) Seltrecht, of Leighton Iowa, and 3 sisters, Sue Hunt of Vinton Iowa, Monica (Dan) Friedman of Belle Plaine Iowa and Chris (Lynn) Lafler of Vinton Iowa. 12 nieces and nephews; 26 great nieces and nephews; and a great great niece and nephew. As well as many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Don & Vi Merchant and Glenn & Dottie Seltrecht. Her brother-in-law Linwood and her great nephew Paul.
