Dave Ray Goodell, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 19, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home. Graveside service with full military rites will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
Dave was born October 5, 1948, in Vinton, the son of Harold and L. Faye (Clang) Goodell. He was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School, Vinton. Dave proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1971. On October 5, 1997, Dave was united in marriage to Janet Erickson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Throughout his career, he was employed as a roofer for T & K Roofing and DC Taylor, and truck driving for JB Hunt and B J Primmer Trucking.
Leisure activities for Dave included building model boats, camping, yardwork, supporting NASCAR racing, and keeping his vehicles “pristine clean”. He was a member of the Atkins Fire Department and the Vinton American Legion.
Dave is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Matt Goodell; daughter, Kelly (Luke) Williams; eight grandchildren: Sierra, Kaitlyn, Lexi, and Mac Goodell, and Lewis, Carly, Ryan, and Spencer Williams; brother, Jim (Joann) Goodell; sister, Margaret (Jerry) Mann; and sister-in-law, Elsie Goodell.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Dora Goodell, and brother Norm Goodell.
