Evelyn Lucille Edaburn Engledow Mather of rural Vinton passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 at her home just days following her 101st birthday.

Evelyn was born March 15th, 1923 to John "Burl" Edaburn and Helen (Lunger) Edaburn.Samuel Hendricks Roy Mather and Evelyn were joined in marriage on August 1, 1949 after Evelyn's first husband Raymond Engledow KIA while serving in WWII. Evelyn was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and many of their volunteer programs, she loved knitting, crocheting, mushroom hunting, fishing, writing, and working in her flower bed. She cherished time spent with family and friends, often challenging them to a game of skip-bo. Evelyn navigated her long life with God as her guide, giving her the kindest heart and the ability to love genuinely.Evelyn is survived by her children: Ken (Carolyn) Engledow, Sharon (Joe) Evens, Bill (Marcie) Mather, Karen Stickley, Shirley Randall, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.Evelyn was proceeded in death by her parents Burl and Helen, her husbands Raymond Engledow and Samuel Hendricks "Roy" Mather, her siblings Stella Cottrell, Ruby Pritchett, Beulah Hamer, Mike Good, Virgina Edaburn, and her children Clarence Engledow, Ron Mather, and Mary Miller.A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
