Mark Alan Kleihauer, age 61 of Spirit Lake, passed away at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Mark was born in Le Mars, IA, on October 24, 1962, to Mildred (Hughes) and Albert Kleihauer. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, IA. The family moved to Cherokee when Mark was four, and he attended school there. He was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee.

After high school, he worked and lived in many states. He moved back to Iowa to be closer to family. Mark was blessed by becoming a father in 1990, when his daughter, Cassie, was born. A few years later, he met Mona Rosdail, his special friend and her daughter, Chloe.

Mark moved to the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area to attend AIB, while Mona continued her education at UNI. Later on, Mark lived in Webster City and worked for Electrolux as a Journeyman until their closing. At that time, he moved to Sioux City to attend WIT where he got his degree in Cyber Security. While at WIT, he was a member of the committee for establishing a disc golf course on the WIT campus. Following graduation, he moved to Spirit Lake where he worked in the maintenance department for Polaris, which later became Indian Motorcycle.

Mark loved music. He loved singing, music trivia, and especially rock and roll. If you were to ask him, it was only rock and roll if it was before 1980. He loved playing cards with his family and usually won. He loved being outdoors playing disc golf, tennis, volleyball, and hacky sack with family and friends. School friends nicknamed him Tower, and it stuck with him for many years. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos, his favorite football team.

Mark is survived by daughter Cassie (Joshua) Jacobsen and grandson Tucker of LeMars, IA; mother Mildred (Hughes) Kleihauer of Cherokee, IA; sisters: Lynette (Patrick) Hyndman of Cherokee, IA, Diane (Dean) Halstrom of Meriden, IA, Jolene Smith of Correctionville, IA; his special friend, Mona Rosdail of Spirit Lake, IA; stepdaughter Chloe (Garrett) Felling and granddaughters Rosalie and Anabelle of Van Horne, IA; Aunt Dorothy Bock of Le Mars, IA; nieces and nephews: James Smith, Jason Michael, Cherilyn (David) Wicks, Daniel (Anita) Hyndman, Justin (Tiffany) Smith, Aaron (Diana) Halstrom, Alan Halstrom, Joshua Smith, Jasmine (Zach) Maule; and many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
