Obituaries : Albert Scott Hammond

Albert Scott Hammond, 83, of Atkins, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, became a silent key KØHWE on Sept. 12, 2023.

Al had many interests and pursuits during his lifetime. He had three wishes. Number one was amateur radio. Second, getting a job at Collins Radio after High School. He continued to go back to see if they had openings, and eventually, he succeeded. He worked at Collins for 37 and a half years until he retired. His last wish was to get married and start a family. He was helpful to all who knew him.

Preceded in his death are his parents, Christian Albert Hammond and Maurine Elizabeth (Summers) Hammond.

Al is survived by his wife, Agnes M (Fisher) Hammond, of 61 years; his daughter, Teresa; son, Charles (Traci) Hammond; grandson, CJ Hammond; two brothers and a sister.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or the family.
