Christina "Chris" JoRae (Pippert) Hendryx, age 62, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Chris's life will be held on Monday October 2, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the American Legion Hall located at 105 North R Ave in Vinton, IA. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Chris was born on July 30, 1961, the daughter of Carl and Carole Pippert. She was the last of four children. After attending Vinton High School, Chris married Glenn Hendryx of Mt Auburn, IA. Together they had two children, Joshua Carl and Mitchell Emery. They later divorced. Chris spent many years of her life managing the Vinton Casey's. Chris also bartended at Mickey's Bar in Vinton and truly enjoyed serving their patrons. Chris found companionship later in life with her partner Scott Blair of Vinton. In Chris's down time she enjoyed visiting with her family or friends and going on golf cart rides around town with her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her mother Carole (August 4, 1966) and father Carl (September 5, 2005).

Survivors include her sons Joshua Hendryx of Vinton, IA and Mitchell (Courtney) Hendryx of Blairstown, IA; her grandchildren Emery, Marcus, Kaydyn, Kollyn and Beck; her partner Scott Blair of Vinton, IA; her siblings Carl "Butch" (Karlene) Gray of Vinton, IA, Catherine (Randy) Janssen of Van Horne, IA and Carla Pippert of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Her aunt Rosemary (Dennis) Billings of Buena Vista, Colorado and uncle David (Holly) Roseberg of Columbia, Missouri; her step-mother Doris Pippert of Vinton, IA; many nieces and nephews and her two dogs Riley and Gizzy.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to uncle David for his thoughtful gift of creating her urn.
