Obituaries : Patricia A. "Pat" Heidt

Patricia A. "Pat" Heidt, 95, of Independence, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, June 23, 2023, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence.

She was born March 21, 1928, in Waterloo, daughter of Archie and Anna Olson Linde. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1946 and obtained a bachelors degree in education from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI).

Pat married Ray Boots in Waterloo in 1948; they later divorced.

She was a schoolteacher in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Vinton-Shellsburg for many years. She also worked for a real estate company as the manager of an apartment complex in Tucson, Arizona, for 10 years. She enjoyed knitting, brain teasers, puzzles, and reading in her free time. She loved family visits, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing music on her organ.

Pat is survived by two sons, Rob Boots of Waterloo, and John (Shelly) Boots of La Qunita, CA; three grandchildren, Amanda (Clint) Smith, Taylor (David) Lyons, and Tyler Boots; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Riley Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Myron "Bob" Linde; and a sister, Helen Purvis.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. July 10, 2023, at Locke in La Porte City with burial at West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
