Obituaries : Marjorie “Marjie” Elizabeth Dods

Surrounded by her loving family, Marjorie "Marjie" Elizabeth Dods, 65, died at her residence Thursday, February 9, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Marjie's family.

Marjie is survived by her husband, David of Vinton; two sons: Joshua Dods of Shellsburg and Andrew Dods of Vinton; daughter, Melisa (Samuel) Coburn of Vinton; four grandchildren: Jazmyn and Ciara Dods and Zoey and Phyllip Coburn; sister, Donna (Tom) Gatch of Sioux City; two brothers: William (Lee) Lillis of NEV and Robert "Bruce" Lillis of CA.

Preceding Marjie in death were her parents.

On April 18, 1957, Marjie was born in Santa Rosa, CA, the daughter of William and Jean (McCauley) Lillis. She graduated from Hershey High School in Wichita Falls, TX. On June 5, 1975, Marjie married David George Dods in Mesa, AZ. While David was in the service, the couple traveled in the United States as well as two tours in Germany. In 1994 the couple moved to Vinton where Marjie was employed several years at the Vinton Lutheran Home as a CNA.

Besides traveling, Marjie enjoyed collecting gnomes and spending time with her family. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
