Kent Stufflebeam, age 91, died, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Vinton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Phil Borleske officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the church. Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time, also at the church.

Kent was born on July 15, 1931, in Waverly, Iowa. He attended Waverly High School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton, Iowa, in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years, including active duty in Korea.

He married Colleen Taylor in August of 1953, and he graduated from the University of Iowa in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in business. He worked in plumbing, heating, and air conditioning for 50 years, and founded Vinton Plumbing and Heating in 1976. He loved the Vinton Country Club, the Democratic Party, the University of Iowa and the Hawkeyes, and he was an avid golfer for many years.

Kent served on the Vinton Planning and Zoning Committee, was commander at the American Legion, president of the Vinton Country Club, Benton County Democrat chair, State Central committee chair, and he served on the finance committee for the Democratic Party. He was a deacon and Session member at the Presbyterian Church and a member of the church choir.

Kent and Colleen traveled to all 50 U.S. states and 23 foreign countries. Kent enjoyed talking to and listening to people. He loved life and tried to be a friend to all.

Kent is survived by his daughter, Susan Hansen; grandchildren Elisabeth and Jeff Hansen. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Taylor Stufflebeam; his parents, Kenneth Stufflebeam and Bertha Hamblin Stufflebeam; his sister, Cheryl L. Warner Kirk; and his brother, Doug Stufflebeam.
