Ronald Henry "Ronnie" "Pete" Peters, 88, of La Porte City passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022, while a resident of La Porte City Specialty Care. He was born on January 26, 1934, in Black Hawk County Iowa, the son of Louie and Esther Edmonds Peters. Ronnie married Mary Patricia Wolf on April 2, 1960, and the couple was blessed with three children.

Ronnie worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a security guard. He enjoyed slow pitch softball and bowling, and watching sports, especially the Phillies, Rams and Iowa Hawkeyes. In retirement, Ronnie ran a lawn mowing business with the help of his granddaughters. He also helped Roxanne take various day care children to school. Ronnie was a veteran of the US Army. He and Mary made daily trips to Waterloo for shopping where Ronnie was always looking for the special bargain.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Mary, of La Porte City; children Roxanne (Michael) Barney and Randy (Lynne) Peters, both of La Porte City and Richard Peters of Clear Lake, IA; grandchildren Ashley (Matt) Moore of Grimes, IA, Brooke Barney of Evansdale, IA, Casey Barney of La Porte City, Emma (fiancé Matt Langel) Peters of Iowa City and Rhett Peters of Waterloo, IA; great-grandchildren Teaghan Moore and Macklyn Moore of Grimes; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Maeley Moore; sisters, Pat Sparks and Velda Brown; and brothers LaVerne, Larry, and Jerry and his twin brother Richard, who died in his youth.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St Paul United Methodist Church, 1st and Sycamore St., La Porte City. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at West View Cemetery in La Porte City. The family will greet friends at Locke in La Porte City, 606 East Main Street, La Porte City on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 5-7 PM. Memorials should be directed to the family.
