Bonnye L. Fowler, 95, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully June 27, 2022, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, with the Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. At the deceased's request, there will be no visitation. Private burial will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bonnye was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Popejoy, Iowa, the daughter of the late Ralph A. Moody Sr. and Gladys Troxel Moody. She spent most of her childhood in Vinton, Iowa, graduating from Vinton High School. She married John C. Fowler in 1947. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion, Iowa, for 70 years and a longtime member of United Methodist Women and Chapter KJ of P.E.O. Before retiring in 1986, Bonnye worked for the Cedar Rapids Gazette in the Marion office and for the Marion Independent School District as a media instructional materials assistant. After retiring, she and her husband John spent many winters in San Antonia, Texas. Together, they traveled with friends throughout the U.S. and abroad. She enjoyed her longtime card groups, teacher reunions, reading and cartography. Most of all, Bonnye was devoted to her family and she will be lovingly remembered.

Survivors include sons, John E. Fowler (Susan), Robins, Iowa, James A. Fowler, Rock Island, Ill., and daughter, Mary A. Oakley (Nick), the Villages, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ryan Fowler (Sarah), Decorah, Iowa, Megan Abel (Roger) and Alison Limbert (Dan), both of Marion, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren, Ahnika and Anderson Fowler, Blakely and Londyn Abel, and Ava, Owen, Charlie and Emma Limbert; plus other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John C.; her parents; and brothers, Ralph A. Moody Jr., C.J. Moody and Harry E. Burkey.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Marion, Iowa, Endowment Fund.
