Delf W. Sievers, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022 at his home in Keystone, with his family by his side.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday, June 6. 2022 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 also at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Delf was born on September 2, 1930 at Brunsbuttelkoog, Germany to Hans and Emma (Feldt) Sievers. He graduated from high school in Germany and immigrated to the United States. On October 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janice Junge at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. Delf farmed in the Keystone area and worked for many years at the Keystone Mercantile after retiring from the farm.

Janice and Delf worked hard and made sure their children had a good work ethic. They loved spending time with family and friends. They belonged to a card club which they both enjoyed. Delf was a very sharp and a very lucky card player - you would probably lose your money playing against him! He was a member of the Turners for many years. Traveling home to Germany to see his brother and his family as well as other friends and relatives was something very important to Delf. The German relatives also came to Keystone to visit. He had a very special relationship with his brother and the two of them loved to spend many hours speaking German together.

Delf was always there for his family. He was always ready to run a grandchild wherever they needed to be. He would come and take care of his grown kid's pets when they were on vacation - feeding them all kinds of treats and making sure he spoiled them. We all benefited from his willingness to be adventurous and take a risk leaving Germany to come to America.

No one he met ever forgot him. You didn't have to know Delf well, or spend a lot of time with him, but he made an impression on everyone. I don't know if it was his German accent, that twinkle in his blue eyes, the way he would say just a few words and have everyone laughing or was it that wonderful laugh you couldn't help but laugh along with when you heard it. He was the kind of person that when his name is mentioned people can't help but smile.

Delf is survived by his wife Janice of Keystone; his children, Doug (Stacy) Sievers of Marion, Brad (Mary) Sievers of Luzerne, Laurie (Daniel) Buffington of Cedar Rapids; Dirk Sievers of Keystone; 11 grandchildren, Dustin and Melissa, Eric, Tiffany and Alex, Clint and Jenny, Amanda and Jeff, Kaitlyn, Matt and Cherise, Cody, Eric and Danielle, Christina Andrea; 13 great grandchildren; Natalie, Camden, Emma, Audrey, Atlas, Beckett, Eli, Easton, Andie, Ash, Declan, William, Abigail; sisters-in-law, Shirley, Mariann; and brother-in-law Dilly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Ellen Sievers; sisters Anna Lisa, Helga, and brother Wilm; and his in-laws, Betty, Lola, Corley, Marlys, and Helen.
