Rodney Lee Albertsen, 41, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Mercy One in Waterloo, following a work accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 10. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Mt. Auburn. Per family request, all are invited to wear casual clothing, encouraging camouflage or Iowa Hawkeye attire. Rodney was born December 8, 1979 in Waterloo, the son of Gary and Denise (Bland) Albertsen. He was a 1998 graduate of Union Community High School. Following graduation, Rodney joined Young Plumbing and Heating where he advanced to become an HVAC journeyman, continuing in this profession his entire working career. On September 18, 2004, Rodney was united in marriage to Jessica Tasler at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City. As newlyweds, Rodney and Jessica made their home in rural La Porte City, never finding a reason to move anywhere else. While living here, the couple made it a priority to make lasting family memories with their daughters, Lydia and Laney. In his leisure time, Rodney found joy in hunting, trapping, fishing, golfing, playing cards, spending time at the "shack" in Missouri, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with family. Left to cherish Rodney's memory are his wife, Jessica; daughters, Lydia and Laney; parents, Gary and Denise Albertsen; brothers, Brett (Kim) Albertsen and Caleb (Megan) Albertsen; sister, Crystal (Fred) Thiele; grandmother, Darlene Bland; in-laws, Charles and Mary Tasler; brother-in-law, Charles (Brooke) Tasler; nieces, Ruby and Kimber; nephews, Cooper, Marlin, Ruger, Wesley, Cayden, Charley, James and Hayden; and his loving dog, Tank. Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roscoe (Lucille) Albertsen and Dale Bland; and nephew, Henry. A memorial fund has been established. Rodney continued to share his love for life by being an organ donor. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home of Vinton is caring for Rodney and his family.
