Obituaries : Charles John Smart

Charles John Smart, 37, died Saturday, November 13, 2021, following an automobile accident.

Charles was born December 27, 1983, Joplin, Missouri, to Charles Lee Smart and Sandra Benson. 

Charles worked as a welder at Peak Construction in North Liberty. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family. Charles also had a passion for older cars. He also valued his knife collection that he had spent years working on.

Charles is survived by his parents Charles Smart and Sandra Benson; his children, Tyrese Fay, Xzavier Fay, Aryan Smart, and Journey Smart, all of Joplin Missouri; his siblings Matt (Amber) Smart of Gainesville, Missouri, William (Tiffany) Smart of Joplin, Missouri, Sam (Arminda) Smart of Hot Springs Arkansas, Timothy Smart, Terry Smart, and Virginia Davidson of Joplin, Missouri; Uncle Larry (Marilyn) Cleary of Reeds, Missouri, and Aunt Jeanette Pruitt of Minnesota. Nieces and Nephews Georgia Smart, Antwan Smart, Malcom Smart, and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Marie Benson of Chicago; uncles Roger Pruitt and Bill (Tina) Ellis.

The family has planned a Celebration of Life on Saturday in Joplin.
