Jane Ann Scott was born on June 28, 1933 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Harry Bentley and Blossom (McClelland) Scott. She attended grade school in Marion, IA and graduated from Palo High School in 1950, she later graduated from Kirkwood Community College as a CNA. On November 10, 1951, she was united in marriage to Gerald (Jerry) Scheer at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion, IA.

Jane Ann spent most of her life raising children and being a farm wife. When they moved to town, she went back to school and became a CNA at Mercy Hospital. Her next adventure was to go back to school again and get her license to drive semi's so that she could be of help to Jerry as they drove across country. When Jerry passed away, Jane Ann went to work at Frontier in Norway where she worked for many years. She enjoyed feeding the ones she loved, her baking was legendary. When she moved to Blairstown, she met wonderful neighbors who quickly became family. After moving to the care center, her family extended again to include the wonderful assisted living staff who clearly loved her too. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the beautiful birds that came to her feeders. Her faith was very important to her, she was an active member at Saint Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins and then Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown.
