Warren B. Hendryx of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Parkview Randallia Hospital. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on March 11, 1932, to Dick J. and Mabel (Smith) Hendryx who predeceased him. He grew up in eastern Iowa having lived in the towns of Alburnett, Tama, and finally in Vinton, where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. After high school, he worked at the Coast to Coast Hardware store and enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1951. He was called into active duty in February 1952 upon, which we went to boot camp and tech school at Naval Station Great Lakes. He was assigned to the USS Hamner DD718 based in San Diego, Calif., which sailed to the Pacific Ocean during the Korean War. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy until 1954. After his service, he enrolled at Iowa State University under the G.I. bill and graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering in 1958 after which he joined Magnavox in Fort Wayne. He and his wife of 63 years, Ardis C. (Mathern) Hendryx were married on Aug. 18, 1957. He earned an M.S. in electrical engineering in 1962 from Purdue University. He retired as a program manager from Magnavox in 1993 after 35 years of service.

Warren developed a passion for building and woodworking after taking a woodshop class in junior high school and he became a skilled cabinetmaker. Three generations of his family as well as other relatives and friends are the proud recipients of furniture, which was made by Warren. He was a devoted servant of God having been an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and in the past few years, Covenant United Methodist Church, where he would always be of service when called.

In addition to his wife, Ardis, Warren is survived by his children, Kevin (Pam) of Rocky River, Ohio, Carol (Roland) Fox of South Bend, Ind., and Keith (Judy) of Davison, Mich. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
