News Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics Celebrate 2026 DAISY Award Honorees and Nominees

Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics proudly recognizes outstanding nursing professionals whose compassion, clinical excellence, and dedication make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and the communities we serve.

As part of National Nurses Week, the organization is honored to celebrate the following 2026 DAISY Award nominees:

Each of these individuals was nominated by patients, families, or colleagues in recognition of the extraordinary care, empathy, and commitment they bring to their work every day. Their efforts reflect the mission of Virginia Gay Hospital to provide quality care close to home while strengthening the health of our communities.

We would also like to recognize  Nicole Kalkbrenner  as our  BEE Award nominee, an honor that celebrates team members who go Beyond Exceptional Expectations in supporting patient care. Nicole's dedication, teamwork, and behind-the-scenes contributions play an essential role in creating a positive experience for patients and strengthening the care our community receives.

We are proud to announce  Stacy Nabholz, Home Health, as the 2026 Virginia Gay Hospital DAISY Award Honoree. Stacy's compassionate approach and dedication to meeting patients where they are, both physically and emotionally, exemplify the very best of nursing care in a community setting.

In addition, we extend our congratulations to  April Shoudy, who has been named the recipient of the  2026 Purdue Global DAISY Award for the ASN Program. This prestigious recognition highlights April's commitment to excellence in nursing education and patient-centered care, and we are proud to celebrate her achievement alongside our team.

The DAISY Award is an international program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Virginia Gay Hospital is grateful for the opportunity to recognize these individuals who go above and beyond to care for our patients, families, and community members.

The annual DAISY Award honoree was announced on May 8th as part of Nurses Week celebrations.
