Postal Employee and Wife Charged with Theft

According to arrest records from the Vinton Police Department, Nicholas Newbrough, a Vinton Post Office employee and his wife Kendra Newbrough were arrested on October 10, 2025. The two were later released on a $5,000 bond each. The couple faced multiple charges concerning a theft that occurred at a residence on September 1, 2025.

Court filings show that the couple faced a total of four charges. The first three:

-2nd Degree Theft, a Class D Felony

-Conspiracy to Commit Non-Forcible Felony, a Class D Felony

-Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Class D Felony

The police report reads that the couple "did conspire with two juveniles to commit 3rd Degree Burglary...by agreeing to aid another in the planning or commission of the crime, or of an attempt to or solicitation to commit the crime."

The fourth charge:

-Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, a Simple Misdemeanor

The second report reads, "The defendant did knowingly encourage, contribute or in a manner cause two juvenile males, a child under 18 years of age to violate a law of the state of Iowa or the city of Vinton."

Nicholas

Court records show that Nicholas pled guilty, receiving a deferred judgment* for two charges of 2nd Degree Theft and 3rd Degree Burglary and the Conspiracy to Commit Non-Forcible Felony, was dismissed. On the charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, he pled guilty.

His bond was released.

A judgment was filed against him by the state on January 28, 2026:

-$1,068.50 was awarded to the victim for restitution

-$155.50 for court costs

-fined $2,050 and he was released from his bond

Total cost, $3,254.00.

Kendra

Originally, Kendra pled not guilty to all of the charges. She has now entered a guilty plea to the three felonies and not guilty to the misdemeanor. She will return to court at a later date for sentencing.

Following the arrests, Kendra's Facebook account had been pulled down and a GoFundMe for the couple has been set up which reads:

AW February 22, 2026, 6:59 pm To come after anyones job or kids and make comments on something you know nothing about. The world has became a hateful place in the internet world. In towns. Humanity has left humans. I know this family. I know their kids and I know the situation. I also know God will see them through a hypocrite town. I hope one day when you are in a situation people show more grace than the people in comments are showing.

MS February 19, 2026, 3:15 am Not sure what the president indictments,and guilty felonies have to do with story. Postal employees need to be honest and trustworthy and not start a teenage gang. I’m sure the kids need help, maybe going to public school be a good start.

GS February 18, 2026, 1:57 pm I'm amazed by all the "they're such good people" and "everyone makes mistakes..." How many of you made a mistake that landed you in jail? Think of the kids..they are growing up with parents who use them to commit crimes...then use them to set up a gofundme page...yes, they might be nice and polite to your face, but look out when your door isn't locked.

But what I do know is that their 5 children should not be punished or ostracized for what their parents might have done.
These children do need food,and a roof over their head,and lights and heat, etc..
Snarky comments do not help the children feel safe.

RR February 17, 2026, 4:30 pm The choices these 2 adults made by stealing things out of a home that didn’t belong to them and talking teenagers into doing some of the dirty work for them is the reason they are in this mess. And then trying to put the entire blame on one of the teenagers is the lowest of low! Why should anyone help them pay their bills. I for one do not want to hear their poor me stories. And there should be no deferred sentences for them.
