Following the arrests, Kendra's Facebook account had been pulled down and a GoFundMe for the couple has been set up which reads:

"Please Help the Newbrough Family Stay Afloat During a Huge Crisis

Story: We are losing everything before our eyes
Life can change in an instant. Our family has always worked hard, cared deeply for others, and done our best to make a difference in our small Iowa community. But in a matter of days, everything we’ve built was turned into rubble,
My parents suddenly lost their ENTIRE income. After 25 years of loyal work, my dad has been placed on emergency unpaid leave INDEFINITELY. This type of leave strips you of any pay, you cannot even use your own earned paid time off!
My mom is doing everything she can to hold things together — caring for us, homeschooling, the house, and all thats being repeatedly thrown at her! Plus, she’s trying so hard to keep and build her small business to cover a few days of groceries or basic needs.
My mom frequently says, “Nothing matters but the people. Not money, houses, or setbacks. It’s all about the people we are on this journey with.”
She’s right. But my family doesn’t deserve to lose everything.
My parents have always been the ones helping others and now they’re the ones in need — and asking for help isn’t easy. So I’m trying to do this so they don’t have to.
We’ve applied for snap (plus pantry info) and insurance assistance, but it won’t arrive quickly enough to cover bills, housing, lights, and essentials for our fa
mily of seven. Not to mention upcoming extreme expenses we are facing.
If you know us, you know how hard my parents work and how much they love our family and community. You know their hearts.
Every single donation (no matter the size ) will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads, food on the table for us 5 kids, and helping us stay steady while they rebuild.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing.
Thank you for showing up for a good family in a hard season."

The account has only received one anonymous $200 donation.

*Deferred Judgment

A deferred judgment is a legal arrangement where a defendant pleads guilty to a crime, but the court delays the formal sentencing. If the defendant meets certain conditions, such as completing probation or treatment, the charges may be dismissed, allowing them to avoid a criminal conviction.

AW February 22, 2026, 6:59 pm To come after anyones job or kids and make comments on something you know nothing about. The world has became a hateful place in the internet world. In towns. Humanity has left humans. I know this family. I know their kids and I know the situation. I also know God will see them through a hypocrite town. I hope one day when you are in a situation people show more grace than the people in comments are showing.
MS February 19, 2026, 3:15 am Not sure what the president indictments, and guilty felonies have to do with story. Postal employees need to be honest and trustworthy and not start a teenage gang. I’m sure the kids need help, maybe going to public school be a good start.
ET February 18, 2026, 3:51 pm Does anybody remember what the President of the United States was charged with?
MR February 18, 2026, 3:45 pm Not sure how he can keep his job at the post office!! Kids would be better off in a different home environment! I’ve been told they are way behind on being home schooled
GS February 18, 2026, 1:57 pm I'm amazed by all the "they're such good people" and "everyone makes mistakes..." How many of you made a mistake that landed you in jail? Think of the kids..they are growing up with parents who use them to commit crimes...then use them to set up a gofundme page...yes, they might be nice and polite to your face, but look out when your door isn't locked.
JG February 17, 2026, 10:57 pm I am not from Vinton and do not know the whole story.
But what I do know is that their 5 children should not be punished or ostracized for what their parents might have done.
These children do need food, and a roof over their head, and lights and heat, etc..
Snarky comments do not help the children feel safe.
Please try to be kind.
LW February 17, 2026, 10:25 pm My question is- how does a federal government employee obtain employment with theft charges? If you apply to the role with a charge of this sort, you will not be hired. What is the difference ?
TV February 17, 2026, 6:09 pm Getting the Vibe on in prison vintage attire! Groovy!!
RR February 17, 2026, 4:30 pm The choices these 2 adults made by stealing things out of a home that didn’t belong to them and talking teenagers into doing some of the dirty work for them is the reason they are in this mess. And then trying to put the entire blame on one of the teenagers is the lowest of low! Why should anyone help them pay their bills. I for one do not want to hear their poor me stories. And there should be no deferred sentences for them.
