News Incoming Storm this Afternoon and Heat Advisory for Today

Benton County Emergency Management released the following information concerning incoming weather for today, July 15, 2024.  

There is a heat advisory for this area with a heat index of 100 ° to 110 °. Take frequent breaks in air conditioning.  

There will also be scattered storms throughout this afternoon north I-80 and probably severe storms in the late afternoon into the evening.  

The threat is a 3 out of 5 and a possible upgrade in parts of the area.  

It appears right now that storms will arrive in the area around 4:30 p.m. and last through about 7:30 p.m. (subject to Mother Nature's timing)

DAMAGING WINDS are the main threat with concerns of tornados.  

You are encouraged to:
-Hydrate and limit outdoor activities

-Outside workers should take frequent breaks

-Check on children and elderly and those with medical conditions causing sensitivity to heat.
