Farmers Savings Bank & Trust, in conjunction with Community Bankers of Iowa (CBI) is sponsoring the 2024 CBI Poster Contest to motivate elementary school students to learn about personal finances. Since 1999, Community Bankers of Iowa has sponsored the Money Smart Week Poster Contest as part of Community Banking Month festivities and the Money Smart Week awareness campaign hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to increase financial literacy among children.

In late 2023 the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago retired the Money Smart Week program, but CBI will continue its annual Poster Contest. All community banks and their branches In Iowa may participate in the 2024 CBI Poster Contest-now celebrating its 25th year!

To enter the Poster Contest, elementary students in 2nd through 6th grades can submit poster designs to Farmers Savings Bank & Trust, with imagery answering the question: "Why is it important to know about money?". For showing Iowa's community bankers what they know, students have the chance to win either a $600 Certificate of Deposit (1st Prize), or a $300 Certificate of Deposit (2nd & 3rd Prizes).

Students should submit their poster designs to a Farmers Savings Bank & Trust branch by April 23, 2024. Statewide winners will be chosen and notified by May 2, 2024, and announced to the public by May 10. Complete rules & submission guidelines are available at www.cbiaonline.org.
