Saturday, March 9th was a day to put in the books for the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter. The morning of the District Convention was tense as members practiced their competitions before loading up on the bus for the ride to Waukon. The bus ride there was filled with singing and practicing for the day ahead of them. District Convention started at 9:00 am. Opening Ceremonies set the mood for the day as members went to their holding rooms. While members were competing Andrew Pingenot and Alana Fleming gave speeches for the District Officer elections. When competitions wrapped up, keynote speaker Amanda Radke spoke to members about how she found her place in agriculture, pursued her dreams, and how they could do the same. After Amanda talked to the members, awards were announced. Vinton-Shellsburg FFA received the following honors:

At the end of the convention, the new District Officers were announced. Andrew and Alana ran onto the stage excitedly when their names were announced. Andrew was installed into office as Northeast District Secretary and Alana was installed into office as Northeast District Reporter. Cheering overtook the bus as members loaded on. Districts will be a day to remember for everyone.
