For decades, the Bear Creek Church located on the Brandon blacktop south of Brandon at 5177 26th Ave. on V71 has been in dire need of maintenance and people with the desire to see it accomplished.

Toward the end of last year, the church had begun to get some much-needed preservation work on the building. Built in 1900. the building has been maintained as best as it could through various groups of volunteers.

Harrison Township Trustee, Okee Walker said, "First of all, I want to thank everyone who has donated to the church for repairs. As you can see, a lot of repairs and improvements have been done.

The next step is the interior. As of right now, we are short on funds to finish paying for the siding and materials for the interior. I am reaching out to you again and asking for help to reach our goals. If you would like to donate or would like to know what we need, please pm me on Facebook or reach out to Sharon Bauer at 319-474-2449.

We are truly amazed and thankful for your generosity. God bless each of you. If you have any connection with this church please feel free to share this request."

Thanks to generous donations, a new steel roof was installed on the building and completed over the winter. Steel siding has been installed bringing the building back to its former condition.

The goal of the project is to make the country church into a presentable location for small weddings and gatherings. Next on the agenda is to get the inside spruced up for the annual Memorial Day Service.

Donations are still needed to pay for the siding. If you would like to donate to the cause, feel free to send a donation to:
