The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department welcomed a new staff member (although not new to many in town), Kristie Boyle as the departments first ever Recreation Coordinator. This new position was created through a restructuring of VPRD. Current Assistant Director Ryan Anderson will be moving over to a new role as Parks and Recreation Superintendent.

Before becoming the Recreation Coordinator with VPRD, I was the Spring (2021) Intern. Kristie was instrumental in the creation and programming of The CRAG, VPRD's climbing and bouldering facility, and also helped lead many spring programs. Kristie says "During my internship I learned so much about the parks and recreation world., in such a short amount of time. I fell in love with Vinton and my boyfriend and I have made great friends and memories within the community."

Following her internship with VPRD, Kristie graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Recreation, Tourism, and Nonprofit Leadership.

In her free time, she loves to be outdoors and be active. She can be found often playing in a recreational league during the week and going on hikes or getting into nature somehow on the weekends.

Kristie states "I have already grown so much during my time with Vinton's Parks & Recreation Department and I am so grateful to get the opportunity to continue this journey in such a wonderful community."

If you see Kristie or her boyfriend Kenny around Vinton, please say Hi and give them a warm welcome!!!
