Our annual day of honoring our Veterans for the service that they have given to all of us in this country, again, never fails to move me.

Each year we are continuing to add to our list of those that have served from our county.

This past year I have done a bit of research on our family trees and have found that military service goes back as far as the Revolutionary War.

We've heard stories about one grandfather on my Noe side that was in the Anderson Prison, during the Civil War, had he not survived, well, yours truly wouldn't be here.

We've heard stories about a grandfather in the Civil War that came home and was not a great sort of guy to be around after he returned.

Today we know that probably these guys suffered from PTSD which is starting to be more understood, but still, if you've never served, there's no way to really understand it.

Our little town has rallied around our Veterans in so many unique ways. The Flaughless 5K, the breakfast served to raise money for the Veterans, there will be a chili supper to help send our Veterans on an Honor Flight, you've seen the article about the Iwo Jima sillouette that is going in at the Veterans Park, we have high schoolers raising money to put historical flags and poles there as well.

You folks are the best.

If anyone deserves your honor, respect and your hard work, it's the folks on the following list...and I'm sure more that have been overlooked. (As always, feel free to drop us a note to include anyone we may have overlooked...and after fighting with two computers all day, I am hoping that we did not lose any names!)

Take a few minutes, read through the names, and be thankful for the great country that these men and women have preserved for us.

Many of these folks have stared the enemy in the face, so that we don't have to.

May God bless each of you for the years you have served all of us.

And as feeble as it sounds to my ears, Thank You.
