The limestone blocks saved from the old Benton County Law Enforcement Center are now being installed along the west and north walls of the new LEC.

Along with the brick and block work, the pouring of concrete continues, as well as the digging and linking of the geothermal system.

Project manager Jerry Petermeier gave the supervisors and update on the building during their meeting on Tuesday. He also told the supervisors that the Vinton City Council gave him the authority to close Third Street between the jail and courthouse when he deems it necessary.

The supervisors and Sheriff Randy Forsyth also discussed the possibility of making Third Street into a one-way street. More discussion is anticipated in the future.
