Board of Trustee Vacancies

The Board of Trustees is seeking candidates for two positions that begin July 1, 2026.

Candidates must reside within the borders of La Porte City; the rural Black Hawk County seat is filled.

Responsibilities include active advocacy, fiscal management, master planning, personnel evaluation, policy development, and monthly meeting attendance, including at least five hours each fiscal year toward continuing education instruction provided by the library director.

Selected candidates are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council to serve a six -year term, which may include serving as a board officer and on ad hoc committees. Drop by the library or city hall to complete an advisory commission application. Candidates are encouraged to submit an optional letter of interest.
