The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in special session with Supervisors Seeman, Tippett and Volz were all present. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at the Benton County Farm Bureau Building.  Other elected officials present were Auditor Hayley Rippel, Recorder Lexa Speidel and Treasurer, Melinda Schoettmer.

Every year the Farm Bureau members invite the County for budget discussions.  Auditor Rippel shared some things electronically ahead of the meeting so they all had a copy of the proposed FY 27 County Budget along with the Iowa Department of Transportation’s five year plan that the Engineer recently presented to the Board. A primary topic seems to be the condition and funding of secondary roads. Questions such as why the wind rows get done before the snow falls, then it seems to be pushed back in the ditches and wasted. Rising fuel costs were a significant concern not only impacting secondary roads, agricultural operations but also essential county services, including EMS.  Additional discussions included the Alliant Energy’s proposed pipeline project and its potential local impact. Farm Bureau was appreciative of our time and attendance at the meeting.

Volz moved/Tippett Seconded: To Adjourn at 7:08 p.m. All members voting aye. Motion carried.                                                                                                                                                                                                               _____________________________
