WATERLOO -- The Money Smart Ag Conference will be on Tuesday, February 10, from 9 am – 2 pm, at Tama Hall, Hawkeye Community College, 1501 E. Orange Road in Waterloo. Nationally-recognized professionals will present on a wide variety of topics including business transitions for farm families, state and federal ag loan and tax credit programs, agriculture estate planning, your farm’s enterprise value, crop insurance, Farm Bill, fence laws, eminent domain, investing, mobile farm record keeping and business transitions for farm families.
Noon keynoter and national agriculture expert, David Oppedahl is a senior business economist in the economic research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Oppedahl conducts research on the agricultural sector and rural development as well as conducting microeconomic research. He directs the Chicago Federal Reserve District's survey of agricultural banks on agricultural land values and credit conditions and publishes the results in AgLetter—the Chicago Fed's quarterly agricultural publication. In addition to his research, he regularly briefs the Chicago Fed's president on the agricultural economy.

This event coincides with Money Smart Week, an outreach program of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. A local partnership committee that includes financial institutions, nonprofit groups, government agencies, schools and businesses annually organizes a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances during Money Smart Week, April 18 – 25.
