The Vinton Lion's concessions trailer will have their first Tenderloin Tuesday with half-priced menu items and FREE SNO-CONES and CAKE. The Vinton Community Band will provide entertainment. Children's activities are being planned which include Tom Pingenot's amazing "Bubbler" skills! Keep Iowa Beautiful is announcing the 12th Annual Keep Iowa Beautiful Photography Contest. Iowans have the next six months to grab their cameras, or phones, and enter one or all of the five categories. "This is a great way for Iowans to share what they like about Iowa," said Kevin Techau, Keep Iowa Beautiful Executive Director. "There are five categories to enter your favorite photo of what makes you proud to be an Iowan and captures the beauty and spirit of Iowa," added Techau.
Since 2010, Vinton Lions have donated proceeds from their annual November chili supper to support Eastern Iowa Honor Flights, enabling veterans to make a memorable day-long tour of Washington, D.C. After a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Benton County Farm Bureau is coming in HOT and ready to hold its 13th Annual Cookout Contest. The Cookout Contest is [st] for Saturday, June 26 at the fairgrounds in Vinton and will be held in conjunction with other Benton County Fair activities. There is no cost to enter the contest, although pre-registration is requested.

The Center Point Friends of the Library Book Sale, June 11 and 12, felt like just what the doctor ordered after being canceled-along with all the other Friends activities-last year because of the pandemic.A lavish number of lovely volunteers came to help [st] up, run, and clean up the book sale.
