Veterans Stand Down Event October 23

The "Stand Down" event will be held on Saturday October 23, at the Belle Plaine Legion Hall located at 1008 12th St. from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Any veteran and their family is welcome to stop in and choose anything that you can use.[SEL]ion includes clothing and personal care items.Veteran's Affairs personnel will be on hand to answer any questions that you might have.

Veterans Benefit Day Saturday, October 9th

The VFW Post 8884 will be holding a Veterans Benefit Day on October 9th from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at their Post located at 5999 25th Ave., Vinton. ALL Veterans and their families are welcome to attend. There will be games for the family and children and a freewill donation lunch.Cara Martin, the Benton County Veteran Affairs Service Director will be on hand to answer any questions that you might have.

Alliant Energy promotes Iowa Pipeline Safety Association virtual safety training

Free online educational events for emergency responders and public officials Professionals involved in crisis planning are invited to the Iowa Pipeline Association's 2021 Pipeline Safety Awareness and Emergency Response Programs in October. Alliant Energy is participating in the Coordinated Response Exercise and encourages emergency responders and public officials to attend.

Eastern Iowa Honor Flights prepares to launch Flight #40

On Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight will launch EIHF Flight # 40 Since we began operations in 2009, to date, we have transported 3,527 Veterans, plus their guardians to Washington, DC to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. While there, they will visit the WWII, Korean, Vietnam memorials, as well as visit Arlington National Cemetery, and other memorials.

American Legion George G. Luckey Post to hold Tenderloin Supper Thursday, 9/23

The American Legion George G. Luckey Post 57 will hold a tenderloin supper on Thursday evening, September 23 from 5-7:00 p.m.Meal includes, 8 oz tenderloin, french fries, coleslaw and a dessert. While supplies last.The cost: $10.00 (fried in Vegetable oil)

Trinity Lutheran holding To-Go Lunch Thursday

The Trinity Lutheran Church will again be hosting their to-go lunches. On Thursday, September 23, from 11:00 to 1:00. Pork loin, cheesy potatoes, cookies, drink.  $8.00.The church is located at 1002 E 13th St, Vinton. The Drive-Up will take place for the next 8 weeks, through the end of October Drive-up to the south door for meal pick up!

GoVS Homecoming Breakfast October 2 7-11:00 a.m.

The GoVS Homecoming Breakfast will be held on Saturday, October 2nd from 7-11:00 a.m. in the High School commons. Tickets are $6 each and will be available for sale at the Homecoming Game. The menu will include: pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy.GoVs is a local organization that raises money for scholarships for our Vinton-Shellsburg graduating seniors.

It's Old Fashioned Sunday at Cornerstone Baptist Church

Join us at Cornerstone Baptist Church this Sunday, September 19  at 10 AM for a great time of fun and fellowship. The church is located at 218 W. 4th St. in Vinton. Dress up in your old-fashioned clothes...or don't. Either way, you are invited to enjoy a good old-fashioned potluck dinner following the Morning Service. See you there!
