Review of 'Birds on a Wire' by Katie Powner by Kellie Roberts
Looking for an emotional and thought-provoking read?
One of the latest books I read by Katie Powner follows the lives of two very different women whose paths become connected through a baby named Providence.
Laura is a wife and mother of three who has completed her foster parent training and is anxiously waiting for a placement call. Bri is an 18-year-old new mother struggling to navigate adulthood and parenthood alongside her boyfriend, AJ. When Child Protective Services steps in and removes their newborn son, Bri is told she can work toward reunification by following the required steps.
As a first-time foster mom, Laura wants to do everything she can to care for baby Providence while respecting the difficult situation surrounding his placement. Through both women's perspectives, the story beautifully explores the joys, fears, doubts, and sacrifices of motherhood.
This heartfelt novel offers a compassionate look at foster care, family, and the difficult choices people face. Be prepared—you may not want to put this one down!
