I couldn ¢â‚¬â„¢t pass on 'I Make My Own Fun' by Hannah Beer ¢â‚¬â€between the title and the cover art, I was sold instantly. What a funny, delightfully weird read about celebrity stardom and fangirl culture!
Marina, a world-famous A-list actress, is fully committed to the bit. Her public image is meticulously curated, her friendships are frenemy-level strategic, and even her fake Hollywood relationship is engineered for maximum clout. She lies, she steals (despite being wildly wealthy), she catfishes for entertainment ¢â‚¬â€and she ¢â‚¬â„¢s always on the verge of committing a murderous act to get what she wants.
Her true sociopathic nature surfaces when she meets the one person on Earth who refuses to be dazzled by her: a part-time waitress/bartender who could not care less whether Marina lives or dies.
It all makes for a bizarre, captivating weekend read.
