Et cetera Who’s Who of AmeriCorps NCCC Class 17 - Darcy Forlenza

Today’s spotlight is Darcy Forlenza who hails from New Egypt, NJ.  Working in the field as the Team Leader for Maple 4, Darcy graduated from Boston University with a Bachelors of Science in Film and Television in 2007.  Darcy spent the year after her graduation working as a production assistant on films and television programs shooting in the Boston area. She then went on to spend 3 years as a production assistant for the PBS science documentary show, NOVA. She was also volunteering weekly at the Allston Brighton Food Pantry. Darcy decided to do a year of service to give back to her country, gain leadership experience, try a new adventure, and travel.

Q: What were you doing before NCCC?

A: Working as a production assistant as well as coordinating online video streaming for NOVA.

Q: What was your first job?

A: Working as a pharmacy cashier

Q: Who is your favorite actor?

A: Christian Bale because of the hit Disney film Newsies

Q: What will be your first words of advice for your team members?

A: Work hard, play hard.

Q: One place in the world you really wish you could visit?  Why?

A: Egypt, because I'm from a place called New Egypt, in New  Jersey and I want to see what Old Egypt is like.

Q: Favorite candy bar?

A: Hershey’s with Almonds

Q: Are there any sayings your parents repeated over and over that you can still remember clearly? 

A: "Everything happens for a reason," Donna Forlenza.

Q: Favorite author?

A: Kurt Vonnegut.
