Two seniors-to-be will represent ECI REC in Washington, D.C., June 14 to June 20. They will join approximately 1,500 other youth who are also sponsored by their RECs to visit historical sites, explore the Smithsonian Museum, meet congressional leaders, spend a day on Capitol Hill, cruise down the Potomac River, and learn about American history and government.

Olivia Oltrogge is a Vinton-Shellsburg junior and the daughter of Pam and Al Oltrogge of Shellsburg. Olivia has participated in soccer, cross country, and debate. Also a National Honor Society (NHS) member and the wrestling manager, Olivia has received an academic letter every year. She participates in her church’s youth group and has volunteered as a member of the cook-and-cleaning crew for summer camp and at her local food pantry. She is currently working to raise funds for a medical mission trip to Haiti that will take place this summer.

Caitlin Kruckenberg is another Vinton-Shellsburg junior. Her parents are Aaron and Becky Kruckenberg of Garrison. Caitlin has participated in volleyball, club volleyball, basketball, soccer, Voyagers dance team, choir, chamber choir, student council, and jazz choir. She has academic letters, carries a 4.0 GPA, and is an NHS member. Caitlin is a member of First Assembly of God and serves as a ministry team assistant in children’s church. She attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Conference and volunteers for Project Linus, the Vinton Parks and Rec Department, and the Vinton Palace Theatre.
