Cedar 1 has teamed up with Keep Kimball Beautiful to renovate Kimball’s new visitor’s center and work with Kimball’s twenty-four hour recycling organization.

The team is working mostly with the visitor center, which has now been open for about seven days and has served over one hundred visitors already. The team is removing weeds from selected areas along with other lawn care duties, heavy cleaning, and some general repair. Cedar 1 is also lending a hand to Kimball’s twenty-four hour recycling center. There, the team is organizing materials and other similar tasks. Keep Kimball Beautiful is a branch of Keep Nebraska Beautiful which was created in the 1970’s.

The team completed a nine hour Independent Service Project (ISP), which are independent volunteer project hours required for their NCCC service year, recently. Cedar 1 worked with Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity. The team, along with many other AmeriCorps NCCC members, helped with several tasks. They painted and scraped a home as well as helped carry along a roofing project. Cedar 1 has worked hard on their ISP hours, and can now proudly say they are reaching NCCC’s required eighty hours.

As the team starts their third project round with a new sponsor, Cedar 1 looks forward to setting the bar for future teams. Cedar 1 cannot wait to get their hands on this project and see what progress can be made.
