The Vinton-Shellsburg alumni football went to Center Point, hoping to reverse the first two years of their participation in Alumni USA football.

But a 21-0 first half lead was too much for the Vikes to overcome. CPU held on for a 21-12 win, although the Viking offense made some terrific second-half plays, and even recovered an on-side kick late in the game.

Both the VIkings and Stormin' Pointer Alumni teams will look for other opponents for next year's event. But it's possible that a fourth game between the two teams could take place. The Vikings tried to arrange a game vs. Benton Community alumni and CPU tried to arrange a contest with Alburnett.

Bob Cazet, the founder of Alumni Football USA, said his company is seeing "exponential" growth in participation.

:"We will have 1,000 games by 2015," he said before Friday's game in Center Point.

Alumni USA leaders have also been invited to speak to people at Fox Sports about a potential series/reality TV show about alumni football.
