Sports : Vikings among district leaders in many stats; travel to top-ranked Decorah

The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings, 3-2 on the 2012 season, are also first or second in many categories of statistics among Class 3A District 5 teams. But the Vikings face their toughest test of the year when they travel to top-ranked Decorah tonight.

After the first five games, the Vikings are:

Second in touchdowns: 25

Second in total yards: 1706

First in passing percentage: 61 percent

First in QB rating: 147.1

Second in interceptions: 7

Second (tied) in fumble recoveries: 8

The Vikings travel to West Delaware next week, and finish the season with home games against Williamsburg and Crestwood.
