Sports : Vikette golfers compete today in Districts; finish 4th at S. Tama

The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes traveled to Ames Sunday night, where they stayed overnight in a hotel to prepare for today's District golf tournement there. On Saturday, they competed at South Tama. Tama 73 Runner-up: Amanda Hintz Grinnell 82 V-S: Erin Randall 48-46=94 Mara Jessen 50-47=97 Cara Hach 50-49=99 Katie Lovell 51-49=100 Natalie Ketchen 48-55=103 Liz Moen 66-64=130 Benton scores: Paige Pickart 54-49=103 Kaitlyn Pegump 48-57=105 Nicole Kaloupek 57-51=108 Morgan Kruse 56-57=113 Kristen Jensen 55-49=104 Sydney 58-56=114 Good tournament with tough competition. Erin Randall medaled at #10; Mara Jessen would have medaled if they honored 11 places. Low putts were Erin Randall and Mara Jessen with 36. We were happy to meet our goal of having a team score of less than 400; I was pleased with the 390 we shot. We will meet South Tama and Nevada again on Monday at Ames in distict competition.
