With one week left in the Class 3A District 5 schedule, three of the top four teams that will advance to the post-season have already been determined.
Maquoketa, at 6-0 in District 5 action, is the District champion. Two teams are 4-2 in district play and will also advance to the playoffs: Union and Western Dubuque. DeWitt Central is 4-2, but needs a win at Center Point-Urbana next week. CPU is at 3-3 in districet play; Marion is at 2-4, Vinton-Shellburg, 1-5; and Anamosa, 0-6.
A victory by CPU in next week's game vs. DeWitt Central would give the Stormin' Pointers the fourth playoff spot.
In District 6, Benton Community is tied for fourth place with Washington, behind Grinnel, Solon and Williamsburg. A win by Benton next week would secure them a spot in the post-season. The Bobcats host South Tama, which is 1-5 in district play. The Bobcats defeated Washington earlier this year. Washington plays Williamsburg in the regular season finale.
The Vikings lost at Central Clinton, 28-7. They host Union next week in their season finale.
