A week after losing their leading scorer for at least the rest of the regular season with a broken collarbone in the 58-6 loss at Maquoketa, the Vinton-Shellsburg football team hopes to return to its winning ways tonight.

The Vikings host Western Dubuque, which defeated Marion, 7-0 last week.

Leading rusher Nolan Edwards had already scored five touchdowns in the first two Vikings games, but was injured on the team's first possession last week. He is out for the season, but could possibly return in time for the playoffs, should the team advance to the post-season. The top four teams in each district (counting only district games) advance to the post-season.

Last week's other District 5 scores included:

Central Clinton, DeWitt 42, Anamosa 14
Union, La Porte City 56, Center Point-Urbana 7

Other District 5 games this week include:

Anamosa at Marion

Maquoketa at Center Point-Urbana
Union, La Porte City at Central Clinton, DeWitt
