Sports : CPU Stormin' Pointers Mascot home to the Best in the Country

Back in 1989, the Center Point School District and the Urbana School District merged. Center Point's mascot was a dog, a Pointer. Urbana had a cyclone for theirs. The two schools also merged their mascots into a winning design, the Stormin' Pointers.

It was announced that the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers took the trophy for having the Best School Mascot in the country.

The school beat 68 other high schools to win the title. In the first round, CPU went up against Somers Tuskers in New York, followed by the Annandale Atoms in Virginia and in their third round they took out William Allen Canaries in Pennsylvania. In the Elite Eight they took out the Wilde Lake Wildecats in Maryland. Finally the Stormin' Pointers continued to go on and win the Final Four by squashing the Bryn Mawrtians out of Maryland.

For the final battle, CPU's Stormin' Norman, beat out the Morse Shipbuilders in Maine and won the 2025 Best Mascot Title.
