Randy Scheel is already losing sleep, and the rest of the members of the first Vinton-Shellsburg Alumni Footbal team are excited for this Friday, July 8 against neighbor and rival Center Point-Urbana.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10; half of the proceeds will benefit Vinton-Shellsburg.
The Vikings' squad consists of former players from three decades of graduating classes. The game will feature full pads, full contact, and a complete, hard hitting football game. Coaches Dave Boisen, Mike Timmermans, and Dusty Schirm are helping to keep the team organized and focused.
This game also serves as a fundraiser for the Vinton Shellsburg School District. "50% of the money from all tickets sold prior to the game will be presented back to our school," says Scheel. "Tickets are $10 each (ages 6 and younger are free) and can be picked up at Tharp's Designs, the Vinton Unlimited office, and Farmer's Savings Bank to name a few. Or you can contact any member of the football team. It should be noted that all money from ticket sales the night of the game will go to the Alumni Football USA organization who is responsible for putting the contest together."
